Wishing you a joyful festive season

'sea storm near the coast' oil on linen board.

Once again I am a bit late to arrive in blogging land. It has been a busy time and also a time to have a break away from the computer to spend time with Richard hubby and to go walking out into the countryside with the hope of seeing perhaps some snow! We had a hard frost on Christmas day which made everything have a festive feel to it which was lovely, we watched the birds feeding in the garden and played with our pet rabbit Bruce. For Richard's birthday we went to Aviemore and saw some snowy mountains but even they had areas of no snow at all. But the skies were so beautiful everyone visiting took out their phones to hold them up to capture the moment. There were also cameras on tripods on the beach by the loch taking shots of the sky at the late afternoon brought us fantastic lilac, deep orange and pink skies. The glow from the diminishing sky was very beautiful. Loch Morlich is such a wonderful place, pine forests, mountains, sandy beach and great walks.  I always leave my camera at home but in my memory this was a day to remember with fond thoughts!

Happy painting to you all and all the very best to you for 2015!!

Strathpeffrer Art Fair

Summer Storm oil on linen canvas board 30 x 30 cm.

The Strathpeffer Art Fair near Dingwall Inverness will be on from Wednesday evening which is preview night until Sunday 30th November. A large selection of lovely art and I have been invited to exhibit four of my paintings which we delivered today. I will post some more of the paintings I have put into the show later this week. It is such a busy time of the year getting work out and delivered to art fairs and galleries. Looking forward to the season of winter which will be a quiet time to catch up on some more painting in my studio.

Featured artist Larks Gallery

'Rocks by the sea' 20 x 20 cm. oil on linen board.

Larks Gallery in Ballater invited me to be the featured artist of this month of October. The Gallery is right in the heart of Deeside near Aberdeen and Balmoral. It is a beautiful Gallery run by Pip Will who does a great job. If you are visiting Deeside do pop into the gallery as there is plenty to see.

The Aberdeen Art Fair held last month went really well. Yvonne and Stuart from Country Frames showed four of my paintings and I was delighted to hear they sold one! Orkney shore!

Happy Painting to you all!

Art around the Firth

'Gale over Birsay' Orkney 30 x 30 cm

This is one of the oil paintings I have just finished for the event Art around the Firth.  The Beauly Gallery is one of the galleries taking part and have invited me as one of their artists to exhibit small paintings for the event.  It is being held during 13th to 22nd June and is an open studio and gallery trail around the Beauly Firth here in the highlands of Scotland.

I am working on new paintings for the Aberdeen Art Fair, this year it is to be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of September at the Music Hall in Aberdeen. I have been invited to exhibit four paintings at the event by the gallery Country Frames near Insch. Aberdeenshire.  It will be the third year I have shown work at the very well attended event and with Country Frames Gallery who work very hard each year to make their beautiful Gallery Stand very successful. I got a mention last year in the July edition of the Scottish Field magazine's art diary section  with a photo of one of my paintings which sold at the event.  Many thanks to Yvonne who owns the gallery with her husband Stuart for putting forward my details to the magazine. Do make a point of putting this date into your diary as it is a wonderful event to visit. as well as paintings there are also beautiful sculptures being exhibited too. More details about the event closer to the day.
